If the 3.1L liter in the older Z24 uses the same bellhousing pattern as the bigger 3.8L, you may be able to swap in an engine from a Grand Prix GTP. I don't know the deal with those engines, but it is possible that the 3100 and 3800 series engines are the same dimensions externally, making the swap even easier. If the supercharger doesn't clear the hood then you could just turbocharge it. That would be a pretty quick car.

wow this is goin to sound gay since i hate domestic cars...it seems your straped for cahs so why not take the cavalier..its got 140hp which is decent and you can do enough work ..only 250hp?you say thats enough for him iam guessing this kid is still in high school just like me and the most competition i get in school are civic's with body kits and Mark's 240sx LoL (hope you see that Mark)...ne ways go with the cavalier unless you have soemtin better to buy

2-3 years old they go for less then 3k

the jbody had some atrocious build quality, and laughable in every automotive aspect

dont want to steer you away from a car you like, but every modded jbody i have seen was a riced out 18 second car
yes, it keeps its own with "civiccs and corolas" but theyre bottom of the barrell economy cars too, so no use comparing slow as a city bus cars to one another

do yourself a favour, get your g2, drive it normally, learn a bit about cars, and one day you will end up owning a significantly better car. but if youre a "peformance enthusiest" the cavalier is no place to start

Have you even obtained a license??? If you cant figure out why crap-o-liers are dirt cheap, you need to keep taking the bus till you figure it out..

Get a life. We've already told him it's ugly. I'm the biggest VW freak here and I told him if he likes cavaliers to get a 3.1 rs. Go buy a car and then come back.

I assume you're referring to the autos? I'm running almost 400 ft lbs through a basically stock Passat 5 speed with a stage 1 clutch, and have never broken it yet. 18,000 kms and 20+ 1/4's. Don't even get me started on rear tranny mounts though.
